Hiking trails, a courtyard garden, cambered pergolas, lake-circling boardwalks, and skywalks will be opened to the public at the third section of Xiangshan Lake Park in New Xiangzhou in time for National Day.

Covering 139,000 sq m (34 acres), this addition began in March. It borders Shixi Road in the south and continues in Lingnan-styled (Cantonese) garden design while housing the main entrance square of Fenghuang Mt Park (Xiangshan Lake section) and an underground parking lot.

Currently soil is being leveled north of Xiangshan Lake Park Phase I and east of Santaishi Road for construction of the Xiangshan Lake Hotel. The high-end garden-styled building will have floorage of 77,119 sq m (19 acres) and greenery coverage of 20 percent, according to a public notice released July 8 by the Zhuhai Natural Resources Bureau.

The five-star hotel will be operated by at least one of the world-renowned hotel management enterprises recognized by the Xiangzhou District People's Government: Four Season, Capella, Mandarin Oriental, Waldorf, The Peninsula Hotels, Diao Yu Tai, Langham, and Park Hyatt.

Nearby, a 25,004.5-sq-m (6-acre) Xiangzhou District Civic Arts Center is planned between the park and Xiangshan Lake Hotel to provide cultural activities, book exhibition facilities, and 360 public parking spaces.

Located off Jianmin Road, north of West Meihua Road, and east of Zhuhai Number 1 High School, Phase I of the Xiangshan Lake Park opened Jan 1, 2019 with a tourist service center, bicycle lane and footpath, lotus pond, covered corridor, entertainment-oriented docks, and bars.

The second phase opened May 1 with a lake, old-fashioned covered bridge, waterside pavilions, natural waterfalls, and lake-circling walkways. Fish, ducks, graylag geese, and black and white swans thrive in green waters along the winding trail set against a background of verdant mountains.

The park has become increasingly popular among visitors with the recent opening of a Love Post Office and summer concerts. According to statistics from operator Xiangzhou Zhengfang Holdings, the park received more than 350,000 visitors in July, with daily foot traffic of over 10,000.
