New Kinwong plants back on track for spring opening
Major structures of multi-layer board (MLB) and high-end high-density interconnect (HDI) plants for Kinwong Electronic (Zhuhai) are now 70 percent completed in Nanshui Town of the Gaolan Port Economic Zone.
A world-renowned electronic circuit supplier, Kinwong plans to invest 5 billion yuan ($702 million) for automatic MLB and HDI printed circuit board (PCB) production lines in the first phase and spend another 1.5 billion ($211 million) on "smart" production lines for high-end flexible printed circuits (FPCs) in the second phase.

R&D workshops will soon be topped off, followed by Plant 2 and auxiliary areas, dormitories, a canteen, and sewage treatment station in late June, and Plant 3 Area & Comprehensive Station Building in late July. The MLB plant will come into operation in the first quarter of next year, according to project head Lei Gang.
Once fully operational, the two plants will be able to produce 3 million sq m of HDI PCBs and 2 million sq m of FPCs annually for 5G new-generation information technology, cloud storage, wearable devices, and high-end automotive electronics. The project is expected to generate annual output value of more than 7 billion yuan ($983 million) and create 5,000 jobs.
Construction of the two plants on West Nangang Road commenced last October but was postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Now, however, 1,300 workers are active at a construction site of 157,000 sq m (39 acres) and backed by local government supportive measures.
Founded in 1993, Shenzhen-headquartered Kinwong is an international leading hi-tech enterprise dealing in PCB and high-end electronic materials R&D, production, and sales. It is ranked among the world's top 20 with PCBs sold to 47 countries and more than 300 regions and annual sales of 6.3 billion yuan ($884 million) in 2019.
