The 4th Doumen Folk Art Festival will be staged Oct 20 to 27, featuring folk art shows, wedding ceremonies, competitions, leisure activities and culinary delicacies.

Such local intangible cultural heritage items as Lion Dance competition, Catching Mudfish, Shatian Folk Songs, On-Water Wedding, Burning Bamboo Stick Incense with Fire Dragon Dance, and Sacrificial Rites of Imperial Family will also demonstrate the charm of Doumen's cultural legacies.

Highlighted is the 8th Collective On-Water Wedding Ceremony scheduled on Oct 27 in Nan'ao Village, which is now calling for 18 pairs of newlyweds free of charge, regardless of nationality, region or age.

One of Doumen's first national-level cultural legacies, the centuries-old tradition will be revived together with Shatian Folk Songs by Tankas or boat people. The couples will experience the original waterside folk customs as they will be accommodated in rural farmhouses, practice the wedding rites and entertain the guest with a local wedding banquet in an open shed.

Procedures:

Bring the original and photocopy of ID card or passport and marriage registration certificate, along with one photo of the couple; fill in the Registration Form (in duplicate).

Download the Registration Form at the bottom of the announcement (第八届"水上婚嫁"集体婚礼报名登记表).

After filling out, send the form together with electronic copies of the couple's ID card or passport, marriage registration certificate and one photo to dmwenhuaguan@126.com. Confirmation on-site with eligible certificates is required once the registration is successful.
