Lanterns raised for Zhuhai to wish China a happy 70th
The city is brimming with festive atmosphere as auspicious red lanterns bedeck parks everywhere to celebrate the National Day Oct 1-7 Golden Week holiday, which last year saw more than 2.5 million tourists visit Zhuhai.
Celebrating the nation's 70th anniversary, three strings holding the lucky number of 888 lanterns hang from street lamps 20 m apart in Yeli Island Park off Central Lovers Avenue in Wanzaisha of Old Xiangzhou.
Furthermore, 150 pinwheels bring color and vitality to flowerbeds in front of the Tourist Service Center, and 400 national flags sway in the wind on lampposts along emergency passages.
Bailaindong (White Lotus Cave) Park in Jida, meanwhile, has been decorated with 1,500 lanterns and hundreds of national and bunting flags. National Day-themed floral arrangements welcome visitors at the east entrance.
Nearby, a dozen strings of traditional red lanterns swing high in the banyan trees of Haibin Park across from Xianglu Bay Beach.
