Chinese NEV giant BYD Company has inaugurated the BYD New Auto Technology Research Institute in Shanghai's Hongqiao International Central Business District (CBD).
The facility focuses on the R&D and application of advanced technologies in the NEV sector, particularly autonomous driving.
It is expected to initially employ over 600 high-tech professionals, with plans for future expansion as BYD ramps up its technology investments.
BYD's presence in Hongqiao Green Valley is expected to enhance the local headquarters economy and foster an industrial chain involving upstream and downstream enterprises.
On Nov 18, BYD celebrated its 30th anniversary and the production of its 10 millionth NEV, making it the first automaker globally to reach this milestone.
