Shanghai received approval from the State Council, China's Cabinet, to set up a pilot zone for Silk Road E-commerce cooperation last October. With the Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District pioneering and leading the initiative, the Greenland Global Commodity Trading Hub, also known as G-Hub, has formulated and implemented a plan to boost Silk Road E-commerce.

The newly launched country-specific livestreaming platform has hosted 20 special livestreaming events to date. It has created a new format, wherein officials from the consulates of Argentina, Colombia, Slovakia, and other countries in Shanghai have joined professional anchors to showcase and promote high-quality goods from countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), such as Syrian soaps, Afghan carpets, and Nepalese scarves.

G-Hub has set up a dedicated market on Nanjing Road to promote premium goods from BRI countries. The market now includes 25 national pavilions and has seen the introduction of over 5,000 country-specific products, nearly 90 percent of which are from BRI countries. Popular items include Syrian rose essential oil, Mongolian cashmere scarves, Nepalese hand-embroidered scarves, and Pakistani salt lamps.

In collaboration with the IP Group of Kazakhstan, G-Hub established a Chinese Commodity Exhibition Center in Astana, to promote the export of high-quality Chinese products, such as medical equipment, electromechanical devices, and consumer goods, to Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries.

G-Hub has also organized overseas delegations to participate in key domestic exhibitions. Over 120 merchants from 68 Silk Road E-commerce partner countries have visited more than 10 provinces and municipalities, attending 25 national and regional exhibitions.
