Shandong celebrates Intl Museum Day
East China's Shandong province launched a special event to celebrate International Museum Day, which fell on May 18.
This year's International Museum Day ran under the theme of "The strength of museums," and highlighted the potential and ability of museums to influence mankind.
Wang Lei, head of the Shandong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, said that Shandong has witnessed a momentum of vigorous development since the 18th National Congress of the CPC in 2012. Shandong is home to the most museums in China. It has hosted a number of high-quality exhibitions and developed a slew of cultural and creative products that have highlighted the province's long history and rich cultural legacy as the birthplace of Confucius and Mencius.
Shandong will also contribute to the high-quality growth of museums and will play a part in bolstering the Chinese spirit, values, and strength, according to Wang.
The primary event was held both online and offline, and Shandong museums hosted a variety of creative and unique activities, providing people with a cultural feast.
A livestreaming activity was also held the same day by key museums in Shandong, including Shandong Museum, Confucius Museum, and the World of Tsingtao. The activity was broadcast in multiple languages such as Chinese, English and Japanese, offering the global audience an amazing journey through the museums in Shandong.
