Yantai to boost spending with coupons
The coastal city of Yantai in East China's Shandong province launched a consumption campaign on April 23, aiming to boost consumption as the culture and tourism sector is heavily affected by the latest wave of COVID-19 pandemic.
This year, the city will offer vouchers worth more than 3 million yuan ($461,467.47) to spur consumption in the culture and tourism sector, which is experiencing a difficult period due to COVID-19 outbreaks and strict travel control measures.
A slew of online culture and tourism activities will also be hosted during the campaign, including art training, and classic artwork shows, offering residents and visitors a platform to enjoy fine traditional culture without going outdoors.
According to Liu Xuexiang, head of the city's culture and tourism bureau, Yantai will implement its regular epidemic prevention and control policy to ensure the safety of visitors, and efforts will be made to accelerate its pace in transforming Yantai into a vibrant city with high-quality tourism resources to ensure that excellent results are achieved by the time the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China convenes.
The city-wide event will run for half a year and last until October, with an array of colorful activities such as recital contests and a square dance competition, and eight festival activities featuring Yantai's distinctive culture and tourism resources will be held at the same time.
Local authorities said that a batch of characteristic culture and tourism products will be launched during the period, which mainly focus on marine tourism, rural tourism, and night tours, in a bid to showcase the rich and diversified tourism resources in Yantai, and inject vitality into the city's culture and tourism sector.
