According to a report presented at a news conference held on Feb 18 and 19, the ancient tomb cluster unearthed in Jinan, the capital of East China's Shandong province, last year has been named among the Top Five New Archaeological Discoveries of Shandong for 2021.

The tomb cluster, which dates back to the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), consists of a total of 12 ancient tombs, 11 of which contain wonderfully carved wall murals. The written evidence implies that the tombs belonged to a Guo family in the late Yuan Dynasty, and the scale of the tomb cluster is the greatest among the province's excavated Yuan Dynasty brick mural tombs.

The report effectively highlights Shandong's recent archaeological achievements.

Shandong will support the reform and innovation of its archaeological growth, as well as achieve new breakthroughs in archaeological work, according to officials from the province's archaeological department.
