Two tourism units in East China's Shandong province were included in the first batch of national demonstrative units for civilized tourism, according to a notice released by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism on Nov 29.

The two tourism units are Taierzhuang ancient town in Zaozhuang and the Sea View Garden Hotel in Qingdao.

Taierzhuang ancient town, a national 5A-level tourist attraction, has made great efforts to improve its service level. Efforts have also been made to strengthen the protection and inheritance of the province's intangible cultural heritage items, such as Liuqin Opera and shadow puppetry, with a particular focus on promoting the integrated development of its traditional culture and folk customs.

Themed tours, including academic research tours, were also launched by the ancient town to offer visitors a platform to learn more about the techniques of making New Year wood-block printings and shadow puppetry.
