Pu Songling is a Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) writer that is best known as the author of Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio (Liaozhai Zhiyi). As a key cultural relic protection unit in China and a cultural tourist window unit in Zibo of Shandong province, the Pu Songling Museum, or the Former Residence of Pu Songling always adheres to the purpose of protecting historical relics and promoting the culture of Liaozhai.
It operates in an open-door way, integrates display and application, focuses on academic research and highlights cultural accumulation. At present, it owns seven courtyards and eight exhibition rooms, covering an area of more than 5,000 square meters and a display area of more than 800 square meters. It has developed into a cultural celebrity museum with complete display system and rich exhibits, and one of the most prestigious tourist attractions in Zibo. The museum receives nearly 100,000 person times of Chinese and foreign tourists per year.
The museum has more than 15,000 pieces of cultural relics, including Class A heritage cultural/property under national protection of the portrait of Pu Songling and his manuscripts and seals.
