A series of cultural activities promoted by the Jining bureau of culture and tourism will be held at the city's theatres and public venues from late December to March, celebrating the upcoming Chinese Lunar New Year in mid-February, local media outlets reported.
Starting on Feb 14, troupes of dancers and singers will perform a variety of shows in the city's Canal Culture Square for 13 straight days to get people in a festive mood. More plays and operas will also be staged in the Canal Music Hall and the Acrobatic City from Feb 14 to 18.
In addition, the bureau will put on events themed around local intangible cultural heritages at the city's tourism attractions to provide tourists with opportunities to learn about and experience traditional culture.
The city's public library, museum, and cultural center will remain open during the Spring Festival holiday. The library will be open from 10:00 to 14:00 from Feb 11 to 13 and from 8:30 to 17:30 on other days. The opening hours of the museum and cultural center will not change. All three venues are free to visit and will offer various activities to enrich the holidays for the public.
