Shandong tourism warms up over New Year holiday
Shandong launched a series of activities to attract tourists and stimulate consumption during the three-day New Year holiday from Jan 1 to 3.
Tourists made 186,700 trips to the province's 5A scenic spots during the holiday period, according to official data.

Cultural and entertainment products, as well as snow and ice-related activities like ice hockey and ice and snow automobiles rallies proved to be popular during the holiday.
Many tourists flocked toward self-driving tours and rural destinations during this period, with the occupancy rate of the province's many rural tourism destinations registering positive growth. Many cities in Shandong including Jinan, Weihai, Jining and Yantai also launched driving routes to cater to holiday-goers.

An array of cultural performances, exhibitions and festivals were staged by the province's 16 cities to entertain resident and create a festive atmosphere.
In light of the pandemic, the province required all scenic spots in Shandong to limit their visitor numbers to 75 percent of maximum capacity.
In addition, tourists were required to book tickets and make reservations before visiting scenic spots.
