The fifth China (Weifang) Folk Art Expo is currently underway in Weifang, Shandong province, with more than 100 folk artists from 18 provinces and cities in attendance.
The expo, which will run until Dec 31, is jointly hosted by the China Folk Literature and Art Association, the Shandong Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and the Weifang Municipal People's Government.
More than 40 categories of folk art, including New Year paintings, farmers' paintings, kites, paper cuttings, embroidery, cloth art, wood carvings, clay sculptures, lacquer ware, musical instruments, and writing materials are on display at the expo.

Practitioners from major domestic New Year picture production bases such as Yangliuqing in Tianjin, Taohuawu in Suzhou, Mianzhu in Sichuan province, and Wuqiang in Hebei province have been invited to the New Year painting section, while the farmers' painting area highlights artworks from Jinshan in Shanghai, Huadian in Jilin, Huxian in Shaanxi, Wan'an in Jiangxi, Xinji in Hebei, and Rizhao in Shandong.
The expo also highlights folk art from Weifang, such as Weifang kites, clay sculpting, paper-cutting, and Lunar New Year painting in the flapping-ash style.
Weifang, known as the "Home of Chinese Folk Literature and Art" by the Chinese Folk Literature and Art Association, boasts a long history and rich culture.
