The Shandong Cultural Industry Development Association, or SCIDA, was launched on Aug 17 in Jinan, the provincial capital.

The SCIDA is a social organization under the auspices of the Shandong Provincial Publicity Department and is under the supervision of the Shandong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism.

The association is designed to facilitate the transformation and upgrading as well as high-quality development of Shandong's cultural industry.

Officials said that the association will organize the first China Cultural and Tourism Expo, which will be held at the Shandong International Convention and Exhibition Center on Sept 17-21 in Jinan.
