A large-scale national music festival was unveiled on Jan 5 at the Bluthner Theater in Jimo district of the eastern coastal city of Qingdao, aiming to promote the development of local music industry and enrich the lives of the people.

Jointly organized by the administrative committee of Jimo economic development zone and the Jimo district bureau of culture, radio, television, press and publication, the event was designed to stage outstanding national music works and carry forward traditional Chinese culture.

Lasting until Jan 9, the event consisted of several special concerts staged by the country's prominent orchestras and four lectures given by renowned music experts and scholars.
