Australian etiquette expert June Dally Watkins' visit to Shinan district, at the center of Qingdao, on May 19 marked a new highlight in the local fashion industry's development.

Watkins, born in 1927, who claimed to open the first school of personal and professional development in Australia, delivered a speech to more than 200 people to inspire them about fashion and etiquette. She also communicated and interacted with participants on topics centering on history and culture.

"I know many Chinese people want to participate in etiquette training programs to learn more about Western customs and culture," said Watkins. "I will strive to give more classes in China to support Chinese ladies and men."

Shinan district has become an ideal destination for iconic fashion figures and events over the past few years.

The Giada Moment fashion show to display Italian luxury women's clothing brand Giada's 2017 spring and summer collection was held in Shinan in April this year.

The district has set a goal of becoming a fashion hub in the city in the upcoming years.

"Shinan will accelerate steps in building a fashionable, modern and international district this year," said Gao Jian, district head of Shinan. "We will organize a series of fashion events to push up consumption."

Gao said that Shinan will continue to promote fashion-related events such as new product releases and fashion exhibitions to support the fashion industry's development in the region.
