Shandong invests 38.5 billion yuan in public cultural facilities in five years

Shandong province invested a total of 38.5 billion yuan ($5.85 billion) in the construction of public cultural facilities during the 12th Five-year Plan (2011-15), according to the 2015 year-end report released at a training course held in Jinan City, Shandong province, on Jan 12.

The training course was opened for all the province’s cultural departments' officials. Xu Xianghong, head of the Shandong Provincial Department of Culture, presided over the course and gave a speech.

The report stated that Shandong's funding support to public cultural services has been increasing year by year.

According to one example in the report, Shandong gave a grand total of financial support of 24.9 billion yuan to the 10th China Art Festival, which features quality arts from around the country, for three consecutive years from 2011 to 2013. The funding for 2014 was 6.3 billion yuan; that for 2015 was 7.3 billion yuan.
