The annual working conference of Su-Tong Science and Technology Park (NSIP) was held on Jan 10.

Qiang Qiang, Party committee secretary of NSIP, delivered a report to summarize 2019 achievements and to make 2020 plans to build the park into an all-round demonstration in Cross-Yangtze River integrative development.

During the past year, under the governance of the Nantong Municipal Party Committee and the local government, Su-Tong park paid close attention to achieving its yearly tasks and has shown significant results in promoting economic and social development.

It is expected that NSIP has over-fulfilled all of its main economic yearly targets in year-on-year growth rates of total industrial output values, general public budget revenues, and total amount of export and import trade, which reached 21.6 percent, 37.6 percent and 4.4 percent respectively.

Its new registered foreign investment rose by 114 percent over last year's figure and the amount of paid-in foreign investment saw growth of 84 percent.

As a transnational park jointly developed by China's Jiangsu provincial government, the Singaporean government, and the Austrian government, NSIP performed well in a year that saw 11 new Sino-Singapore cooperative projects signed and a total of 62 projects under smooth construction.

Qiang also affirmed that the whole park has taken the initiative in high-quality development of key projects and obtained fruitful results.

The 56 new enterprises above designated size in the park include seven innovative and high technology enterprises.

Tencent New Media Institute was officially launched in the park, which will further accelerate the training of new media talents in Nantong and help the development of the city's digital content industry.

And the first provincial human resource park in central Jiangsu officially started operating.

NSIP also put great efforts into the construction of infrastructure and facilities and improvement of its management services, while attaching great attention to operational efficiency in 2019.

The Nantong government has a mission of building Su-Tong Park into an all-round demonstration in Cross-Yangtze River integrative development, and requires it, as a model of multinational cooperation, to continue to closely focus on promoting investment projects in high-end manufacturing, innovative and high technology, and modern service industries in the years following 2020.

Wang Shaoyong, director of the NSIP management committee, attended the meeting and emphasized that the park should be more confident about its role in the integrative development in southern Jiangsu due to its position as a transnational cooperative park and its unique resources.

In 2020, NSIP will continue to advance investment promotion to attract more key projects in leading industries, and make full use of foreign investment to expand exports and imports.

It attaches great importance to urban infrastructure construction plans for improvement of diversified education infrastructure, specialized medical care resources, and advanced commercial facilities in ensuing years.

Learning from the successful experiences of Suzhou Industrial Park, the first governmental cooperation project between China and Singapore, the NSIP has adhered to international, ecological and innovative development to accelerate its transformation and upgrading.

To optimize its management mechanism more efficiently, safely and completely, the park plans to establish a digital urban management system and accelerate the pilot of 5G commercial use in 2020.
