Yangshan, located in the Lin-gang Special Area of the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone, was approved by the State Council on Jan 17 to become a special comprehensive bonded area. It is the first such area in the country.
Well located
The Yangshan Free Trade Zone is located in southeastern Shanghai, on the central coastline of Chinese mainland, and in the estuary of the Yangtze River.
The area, based on the Yangshan Deep-Water Port, the world's largest container port, and the Pudong International Airport, the world's third-largest cargo airport, is well-connected by air, sea, water, rail, and road.
Abundant space
The Yangshan Free Trade Zone, covering a total area of 25.31 square kilometers, combines Luchaogang area, Xiaoyangshan Island, and the southern part of the Shanghai Pudong International Airport. Luchaogang covers an area of 7.99 sq km, Xiaoyangshan Island covers an area of 9.46 sq km, and the southern part of the Shanghai Pudong International Airport covers an area of 7.86 sq km.
Complete industrial capabilities
Since the establishment of the Lin-gang Special Area, Yangshan has been responsible for distribution and bulk commodity trading for the international market, imports and cross-border e-commerce for the domestic market, and the transportation industry, which includes aviation and shipping.
