Backed by advances in science and technology and strong industrial chains, Zhangjiagang has promoted high-quality development and built a modern industrial system in recent years.
The enterprises in Zhangjiagang have been deeply engaged in technological innovation. For example, Liangchen Biotechnology innovated virus inactivation equipment to reduce costs and improve efficiency in biopharmaceuticals; Vinsce formed a complete artemisinin industrial chain; and Guangda Special Material innovated core component manufacturing for offshore wind power.
Multiple regions have achieved cluster development. Fenghuang town, for instance, has positioned the semiconductor industry as one of its key emerging industries for development. It has built a science and technology innovation park, which has gathered 35 semiconductor enterprises, forming a complete industrial cluster.
The mature industrial ecosystem is increasingly becoming a strong magnet for investment attraction. Zhangjiagang has established investment promotion centers in Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen since 2024. As of October 2025, it attracted 87 projects, with a total investment of nearly 8 billion yuan.
