Rhyme of Water, a joint exhibition of calligraphy works from the four cities of Zhangjiagang, Kunshan, Changshu, and Jiangyin, was held in Zhangjiagang on Dec 9, attracting numerous calligraphy enthusiasts.

The exhibition will run until Jan 18, 2026, featuring 100 outstanding works in seal script, clerical script, regular script, running script, and cursive script, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Jiangnan region — south of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River.

Wang Weilin, vice-chairman of Jiangsu Calligraphers Association, said that the four cities are geographically close and culturally connected. The joint exhibition represents both an inheritance of Jiangnan calligraphy and an innovative expansion of the art form.
