The groundbreaking ceremony for the DuPont Molykote high-performance specialty lubricants Zhangjiagang production facility was held on Nov 18 at the Zhangjiagang Free Trade Zone.
As a long-time friend of Zhangjiagang, DuPont established the DuPont China Manufacturing Base (Zhangjiagang) project in 2018 to support DuPont's future major investments in China. The first phase of its adhesive project is already in production and operation.
The new high-performance specialty lubricants project marks another significant investment by DuPont in the city. The products consist of specialty greases and pastes, mainly serving the automotive, electronics, and energy sectors.
Eugenio Toccalino, global business director of DuPont Molykote, said that the Molykote brand has been active in the Chinese market for many years. The new production facility will further enhance supply chain reliability.
In recent years, Zhangjiagang has concentrated on key areas such as functional new materials and high-end fine chemicals, attracting many leading domestic and international chemical new material enterprises.
As of now, Zhangjiagang is home to 166 enterprises above designated size, 26 Fortune Global 500 companies and 13 Global Top 50 chemical companies, with the chemical new materials industry's output value exceeding 80 billion yuan ($11.31 billion).
