As of April 2, more than 1,800 companies had confirmed their participation at the second China International Import Expo (CIIE), according to the Ministry of Commerce.

Gao Feng, spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce, told a press conference recently that preparations for the second CIIE are in full swing. More than 900 companies from 77 countries and regions have signed contracts with the CIIE to attend the expo, including 17 members of the G20 international forum and more than 30 Belt and Road countries and more than 180 of the Fortune 500 companies and domestic leading companies.

The ministry will next recruit exhibitors with more precision and invite additional private and small- and medium-sized companies as well as overseas purchasers.

The ministry will also cooperate with the CIIE organizing committee to host the Hongqiao International Economic and Trade Forum.

With a planned exhibition area of 330,000 square meters, the second CIIE will exceed the maiden expo in terms of the number of participating countries and companies.
