It was announced at a signing ceremony on Jan 12 that an Overseas Trade Center and a Yangtze River Delta International Trade Show Center are to be established in the Hongqiao Central Business District.

With a total planned area of 17,300 square meters, the Overseas Trade Center is expected to be a gathering place of well-known international overseas trade and investment service institutions, which will in turn attract numerous leading foreign enterprises seeking development opportunity here.

The overseas trade center will also serve as a display platform for foreign enterprises intending to enter China.

The other center aims to be China's largest location for displays of products from the major world economies and the dominant enterprises in the Yangtze River Delta, and for highlighting technological innovation at home and abroad.

The pavilion for showing the global products is planned to be 30,000 square meters in size, and those for Delta products and innovation are to cover 20,000 square meters and 10,000 square meters respectively.

Serving the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta has always been an important goal for the Hongqiao CBD. The International Trade Show Center will better serve the enterprises from the Yangtze River Delta by helping them access domestic and foreign markets.

The Hongqiao CBD has now developed into a gathering place for Shanghai's headquarter enterprises, modern service industries and the sci-tech innovation industry. A total of 2,300 enterprises have settled in the district to date, of which more than 100 are foreign invested and over 70 are listed and well-known.

The CBD will continue to improve its business climate, supporting facilities and the natural environment to achieve its goal of becoming the world's leading first-class business district.
