"On hearing the plane-admiring walkway was available to the public, I instantly came here to go fishing while admiring the planes since fishing and good views usually put me in a good mood," a local resident said.

The Hongqiao CBD is also going to install plaques describing Hongqiao airport's history and providing information about waterscapes on the nearby footpaths and walkway.

Nine other waterscapes in Hongqiao CBD are expected to be established by 2019, including a water park and a water sports base.

The Hongqiao CBD will continue to promote the construction of a national ecological demonstration district by adopting the most advanced low carbon technologies and management ideas.

Green roofs, clean energy vehicles, and smart transportation, buildings, and public services are set to be widely promoted in the Hongqiao CBD to make the district more habitable and attractive for local residents and high-end talents.
