Metro Line 17 almost ready for trial operation in Hongqiao

The 17th line of Shanghai's subway network connecting Hongqiao Railway Station to the West and Dongfang Lvzhou to the East is approaching its final construction stage, and is set to run trial operationby the end of this year.

The new subway line stretches 35.3 kilometers and has 13 stops in total. It will run through some key functional areas in Shanghai such as the Hongqiao Hub and the National Exhibition and Convention Center. Subway passengers will also be able to transfer to Line 2 and 10 at the Hongqiao Railway Station stop of Line 17.

The Line 17 subway train has adopted metallic paint with silver grey as its main color, with an orange waistline adding a sense of vitality and technology. The carriage is equipped with many modern designs including cutting-edge LCD monitors and LCD dynamic maps, upgraded indicator lights, inverter air conditioners and full coverage of LED lights.

In terms of safety, the new subway train has installed several advanced electromechanical devices. These are mainly all kinds of functional sensors which can help the crew members know the train's condition in time, further improving its running quality and maintenance efficiency.
