Shanghai InterContinental Hotel will officially open in July 2016. On December 1, 2015, both the contract signing and the opening ceremony took place in Shanghai. 

As it was decided by the Shanghai Expo Co Ltd (SEC), Shanghai InterContinental Hotel, settled in the National Exhibition and Convention Center, will be managed by InterContinental Hotel Group. Hotel was jointly designed by East China Architectural Design Institute (ECADI) and a well-known design institute Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA). 

The hotel will integrate comprehensive functions such as guest room, conference, commerce, restaurant and recreation. There are 543 spacious and comfortable guest rooms and naturally lighted column-free 960- square- meter large banquet hall, with advanced conference facilities. The hotel is also equipped with an indoor swimming pool and Spa center.

National Exhibition and Convention Center is a complex jointly built by Ministry of Commerce and Shanghai municipal government. All of the investments, constructions and operations came from Shanghai Expo Co Ltd. As a new landmark of Shanghai, the Center has successfully held dozens of large-scale exhibitions since it its opening a year ago. Shanghai Auto Show, China International Industry Fair and China International Textile Expo are just some of the exhibitions organized there. Exhibition area is now reaching around four million square meters.
