The National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) (NECC for short), co-built by the Ministry of Commerce of China and the Shanghai municipal government, will be developed to serve China and the world with its cutting-edge design and well-equipped facilities.
It covers 1.47 million square meters in gross floor area, almost 2.5 times that of the Shanghai Tower, the nation's tallest building and the second-highest in the world.
Facilities at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) include exhibition halls, commercial center, office buildings, and a hotel. These four facilities are linked together by an 8-meter-high elevated pedestrian walkway.
According to Wang Zhiping, secretary of CPC Committee of China Foreign Trade Center, director general of China Foreign Trade Center, the first phase of the four-leaf clover shaped exhibition project was completed at end June, 2014, with its first exhibition about to fall on October19.
The China International Auto Products Expo, an annual auto show event that had been held in Beijing for seven years, moves to Shanghai.
As to its scale, the ground building area is estimated to be 5 million square meters and underground area is 2.6 million square meters. As to large-scale exhibition facilities, the planning exhibition area is 0.5 million square meters, which surpasses that of the conference and exhibition center in Hanover, Germany, becoming the largest conference and exhibition complex in the world.
KFC opens concept store in Shanghai National Exhibition and Convention Center

But what's surprising is that it's actually owned by one of biggest names in global fast food: Yum Brands Inc's KFC. And it's been completely designed digitally, in collaboration with Baidu Inc, the Chinese web services giant.
Located inside Shanghai's National Exhibition and Convention Center, the "Original+" concept outlet offers customers a digitalized experience, covering everything from ordering to paying, as well as other types of entertainment. [Read More]
