Intercity high-speed rail to link Suzhou, Shanghai, Huzhou

The Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou High-speed Rail project will start next year in 2016 and is expected to cut short significant amount of travel time from Suzhou to the neighboring cities, said rail officials.

The 148-kilometer railway will start from Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station, crossing Wujiang district of Suzhou, Jiangsu province, and end in Huzhou, Zhejiang province. It will have 11 stations and is designed to run at the top speed of 250 kilometers per hour. Travel from Shanghai to Huzhou will take less than an hour.

The officials informed that the new rail will also connect Shanghai-Hangzhou Railway which will shorten the time of travel between Suzhou and Hangzhou.
