Qingyun Road Pedestrian Street in Nanming district of Guiyang has been recognized as a national cultural and tourism landmark, marking a significant milestone for the city’s urban development and cultural heritage preservation.

The street's bustling night market dates back to the 1980s, when 64 vendors set up street stalls, creating an early urban food hub in Guiyang. Over three decades, it has evolved into a 700-meter-long food street, home to over 100 specialty merchants and 300 food stalls, becoming a beloved late-night canteen.

In 2020, as part of an initiative to enhance the city's image, Nanming relocated over 300 night market stalls from the streets into designated indoor spaces. A year later, the district launched a comprehensive urban renewal project, upgrading Qingyun Road and its surrounding areas and improving commercial offerings, services, and the overall environment.

The revitalized Qingyun Road Pedestrian Street, spanning 1,020 meters from Zunyi Road to Huannan Alley, was completed after two years of transformation.

According to the project director Zhang Fenglan, since taking over the street's overall operations in October 2023, efforts have been made to establish a diverse consumer space integrating dining, entertainment, and cultural experiences.

The street now features traditional crafts, such as Mawei embroidery and Shiyuan Teahouses, alongside trendy attractions like E-sports hotels.

The fusion of tradition and modernity has made Qingyun Road a top tourist destination.

Social media buzz has fueled its popularity, attracting visitors to experience its unique blend of "street food culture and contemporary trends".

Since reopening, the street has recorded sales of 1.56 billion yuan ($216.07 million) and welcomed 44.6 million visitors. In 2024 alone, it generated 660 million yuan in sales with foot traffic of 18.19 million people.
