Nanming district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has been making significant strides in the digital economy by focusing on computing power, empowerment, and industry.
The district has achieved high-quality growth in the digital economy through new digital infrastructure, industrial digitization, digital industrialization, digital governance, and data valorization.
In 2023, Nanming's software and information technology services sector reported revenue of 4.75 billion yuan ($659.72 million), a 12.7 percent increase, ranking second in the province. The deep integration index of big data and the real economy reached 64.02, up from 63.09 in 2022. The district also added over 2,000 new big data professionals.
The sector's revenue hit 2.36 billion yuan in the first half of this year, marking a 22.5 percent increase from last year.
On Feb 22, the National Supercomputing Center in Guangzhou Guizhou Sub-center signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Gui'an Comprehensive Bonded Zone to jointly develop the Guiyang-Gui'an Microstar Super Intelligent Integrated Computing Power Center.
This project, one of the key initiatives following the establishment of the Guizhou branch in Nanming district, represents a total investment of approximately 3 billion yuan. It aims to build a high-end computing power leasing platform with 5120P computing power.
The first phase, which has received an investment of about 500 million yuan, aims to achieve 1024P computing power, using world-leading equipment to provide top-tier computational capabilities.
Beyond computing power, Nanming continues to enhance 5G networks, gigabit optical networks, and smart emergency network infrastructure.
In 2023, the district built 491 new 5G base stations, the highest number in the city, and developed six application scenarios, including the "Smart Construction Site Cloud Platform Based on Big Data and IoT".
Nanming has also promoted digital industrialization, focusing on electronic information manufacturing and the software and information technology services industries.
Utilizing the Tencent Cloud Digital Economy Industrial Base, the district has attracted Tencent-related enterprises and ecosystem partners, fostering and supporting resident companies to expand and strengthen the digital industry.
The Huaguoyuan area in Nanming has become a major hub for digital economy enterprises. The new digital industrial cluster has attracted 99 companies, including two technologically advanced enterprises, one "little giant" enterprise, three high-tech enterprises, and seven enterprises above a designated size.
The upstream and downstream industrial chains for software development, communication network services, IT solutions, and system integration are well-established.
New digital economy sectors are also emerging, such as AI annotation, original IP, and digital content for animation.
