The sixth Yongle Taohuapao Marathon in Nanming district, Guiyang, kicked off with great enthusiasm on March 23.
More than 2,000 runners gathered at Taoyuan Square in Yongle township of Nanming district, where they were surrounded by blooming peach blossoms.
The race route for this event was set along the rural roads that wind through the peach orchards, spanning a total distance of 6.6 kilometers. The participants enjoyed the sight of blooming peach blossoms as ran through the course.
Hong Junyao, a third-year junior high school student, together with his four classmates, participated in the event. He said, "We are all running enthusiasts. This time, we completed the entire course in about 30 minutes. The scenery along the way was breathtaking, relieving the pressure of studying and relaxing both body and mind."
What's more, Zhang Qianfei, a resident from Yunyan district of Guiyang, who came with his family, stated that the event is family-friendly.
In addition to the marathon, Nanming also prepared other activities for participants and spectators to enjoy, including an outdoor concert, a dragon dance competition, a goods fair and a photography contest. The event duration was extended to two days.
At the "Jiaxiu Cup" Dragon Dance Open, eight dragon dance teams took turns performing, receiving cheers and applause from the audience. The first prize was awarded to the men's dragon dance team from Guizhou Medical University.
