Nanming economic, social development thrives over five-year period

Adhering to a people-centered approach, Nanming district is making efforts to boost its rapid economic and social development over the next five years.

From 2017 to 2021, the economic strength of Nanming rose sharply, its urban infrastructure improved, and the people's living standards and quality of life improved significantly.

Meanwhile, the district's reform and opening-up have been comprehensively deepened, while the environment has continued to improve.

Over the past five years, Nanming has attached heavy importance to the development of real economy and the transformation and upgrading of the industry.

The added value of industries above designated size in Nanming had an average annual growth rate of 10.4 percent, total retail sales of consumer goods achieved an average annual growth rate of 9.5 percent, and completed fixed asset investment saw an average annual growth rate of 9.5 percent.

Nanming insisted on an innovation-driven strategy and the operating income of internet and related services, the number of software and information technology service enterprises above designated size in the district increased by 28 percent annually on average.

By the end of 2021, Nanming was home to 40 big data enterprises above designated size in the database, while the total revenue of software and information technology services above designated size had reached 3.27 billion yuan ($490.62 million), a year-on-year increase of 28.8 percent.

Moreover, Nanming continued to work toward the ecological civilization goal, achieving impressive results. 

Black and odorous water bodies along the Nanming River were treated, with the environmental quality of surface water continuing to improve.

The water quality of the district's drinking water sources reached 100 percent annually over a five-year period, while its forest coverage rate reached 41.68 percent.

In 2021, the proportion of days with air quality rated "good" or "excellent" reached 98.6 percent, an increase of 4.4 percentage points over 2017.

Meanwhile, the total number of parks in the district increased to 154, and overall living standards in Nanming greatly improved over the past five years.

The average annual per capita disposable income of urban residents in the district increased by 7.9 percent annually, and more than 240,000 people found jobs in urban areas. Over 76,000 unemployed people were re-employed.

From 2017 to 2021, 41 schools were built, renovated and expanded in Nanming, and 44 campuses were upgraded and renovated.

The standardization rate of digital immunization clinics in the district reached 100 percent, and the medical service environment was significantly improved as well.
