The Nanming district of Guiyang -- capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province -- recently rolled out an implementation plan to promote the inheritance, innovation and development of traditional Chinese medicine or TCM.
It aimed to make every effort to promote the high-quality development of the district's TCM health industry.
The plan is said to identify eight areas and 18 key tasks.
They include improving the TCM inheritance and innovation system, strengthening the construction of the TCM talent team and medical service capacity -- and giving full play to the characteristics and advantages of TCM to promote technological innovation.
Other targets are expanding and strengthening the TCM health industry, inheriting and carrying forwards the TCM culture, and promoting international cooperation and exchanges.
Additionally, the plan clarifies the goals for the next few years. These include strengthening financial support policies, reforming TCM medical insurance payment policies, reforming the salary system of public TCM hospitals -- and innovating TCM personnel management mechanisms,
Under the plan, by 2023, Nanming will strive to build a district-level TCM hospital in accordance with the standards of second-level TCM hospitals.
Moreover, all township health centers and community health service centers in Nanming will have at least one practicing Chinese medicine physician or assistant.
All village clinics and community health service stations will be able to provide TCM medical services.
By 2025, the TCM development policy mechanism in Nanming will be further improved and TCM services for grass-roots medical and health institutions will be realized, meeting the needs of the people for TCM services.
