A physical exam assessment machine for driver license applications and renewals recently started operating in the local district service hall – in the Nanming district of Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.

The intelligent gear represents an effort being made by Nanming to improve its public services.

The machine is able to test those whose licenses have expired or who want to apply for a license upgrade, to meet the one-stop needs of the public for physical examinations and license renewals.

It can speedily and proficiently handle driver's physical examinations, with the entire process reportedly taking less than five minutes.

Applicants need only to swipe their ID cards to undergo vision, height, limbs and hearing checks.

After the physical examination is complete, the driver's information is automatically transmitted to networked hospitals and those approved by the hospital will be simultaneously uploaded onto the traffic control department system.

Afterward, qualified drivers can go directly to the traffic control window to renew their expired driver's licenses.

To date, the new machine has reportedly served around 100 applicants.
