Nanming district in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has made solid progress in industrial transformation and upgrading to establish itself as a new-type digital industry cluster area.
During the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20), the number of big data enterprises in Nanming district reached 1,450, of which 60 enterprises were above the designated size – those with annual sales above 20 million ($2.9 million).
The number of high-tech enterprises in Nanming reached 172, accounting for more than 11 percent of the high-tech enterprises in Guizhou province.
Meanwhile, in 2020, the revenue of the internet, internet-related services, software and information technology services in Nanming district reached 2.72 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 43.26 percent.
From January to March this year, the revenue of the businesses mentioned above reached 643 million yuan, with a growth rate of 39.68 percent.
In recent years, Nanming has held annual forums to make suggestions for the district's digital development.
Experts and industry leaders conducted in-depth discussions on artificial intelligence, the integrated development of domestically-produced chips and the big data industry, and digital infrastructure construction.
