Nanming's 2020 GDP hits 89.23b yuan

In 2020, Nanming district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, achieved a gross domestic product (GDP) of 89.23 billion yuan ($13.83 billion), signaling a strong recovery and steady improvement in economic operation.

The per capita disposable income of permanent residents reached 40,906 yuan.

Throughout the year, Nanming issued a total of 156 million yuan of subsidies and rewards to promote the resumption of work and production. The district also reduced or exempted 493 million yuan of social security expenses for 12,039 enterprises, helping them to overcome the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The total number and development quality of maker spaces were among the best in the province.

Nanming strengthened friendly cooperation with Germany, Japan and other countries and took advantage of a series of foreign investment activities. It introduced foreign-funded enterprises such as ALBA Group, the world's leading recycling and environmental services company, and Galeries Lafayette, an upmarket French department store chain.

It completed the renovation of 2.12 million square meters of shanty towns and 232,000 sq m of old communities, making significant urban renewal progress.

The district also invested 105 million yuan in upgrading the software and hardware systems for infrastructure construction. It completed the upgrading and transformation of 50 back streets and alleys and added 50,000 sq m of green space.

In terms of education, Nanming achieved overall education equality and high-quality and balanced development, with the nine-year compulsory education consolidation rate hitting 99.85 percent.

In 2021, Nanming will achieve substantial progress in the comprehensive development of the real economy, improve the level of opening-up and make further progress in the innovative application of social governance.
