Nanming district of Guiyang -- capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province -- held a special recruitment fair for promoting poverty alleviation through employment on Oct 17.
It was held in Shitun town in Wangmo county, with 25 businesses resident in the district participating and offering over 900 job positions.
The transfer and employment of the impoverished labor force is the most effective way to increase their incomes and lift the penury stricken populace out of destitution.
In early preparations for the fair, Nanming district officials researched the characteristics of the labor force in Wangmo county, as well as the labor needs of enterprises under its jurisdiction.
After careful screening, 25 well-known enterprises with relatively high wages and low requirements were selected to participate in the on-site exercise, providing more than 900 jobs.
All these jobs were in sectors of machinery manufacturing industry, property management and catering services.
In order to boost the recruitment, the fair was set up in a farmers' market where people gather, attracting many locals.
At the same time, in order to increase the publicity of the district's employment and entrepreneurship policies, relevant departments also set up a publicity stand to answer questions and guide job applicants. On the day, more than 200 people came to the stand and more than 400 policy leaflets and brochures were distributed.
