Nanming district in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, issued a bold plan on Oct 10 to support the small-store economy.
The plan mainly aims to develop eight clusters of small stores and support five main service enterprises, among other things.
It also wants to help with the digital upgrade of 60 small stores, introduce and develop over 30 brand and feature stores and establish one intelligent platform for businesses, so as to facilitate a robust and expansive environment for small stores. Under the plan, the district will achieve its goals by 2022.
In 2019, there were 59,132 small stores in the district, with employment of about 149,600 people and turnover of about 92.91 billion yuan ($13.83 billion).
In order to further promote the cluster development of all kinds of small stores in the district -- and change the current situation of small stories being small, scattered and weak in strength -- Nanming district will use a combination of online and offline methods to promote their development.
Relying on its smart business platform, the district will coordinate the individual strengths of disparate small stores, five main supported service enterprises, social organizations and the local government.
It will seek to fully activate the development enthusiasm, initiative drive and creativity of small stores and maximize the empowering support role of five main enterprises.
At the same time, the district plans to invest its greatest efforts in innovating the service and management of small stores with a team of small store planners.
It will push for small stores to become convenient, individual and digital -- promoting their upgrade throughout the entire district, so as to realize the healthy and prosperous development of small stores there.
