The Red Cross Society of Nanming district in Guiyang -- capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province -- joined the Liuhe volunteer service center to hand over subsidies to impoverished undergraduates on Sept 11, according to media reports.
During the activity, 27 undergraduates received a total of 54,000-yuan ($7,959) subsidies and each got a bag of common medical supplies, with instructions on emergency treatment.
Subsidies came from donations given by local care enterprises and people from all walks of life.
Since 2016, the Red Cross Society of Nanming district has handed out a total of 385,000 yuan to support 210 impoverished undergraduates.
The financial aid program has become an important part of Nanming Red Cross' activities.
