Advanced technology boosts Nanming’s community governance

With the help of big data and intelligent technology, a comprehensive governance platform at the Huaguoyuan community in Nanming district in Guiyang -- capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province -- has become a model for sophisticated and efficient community management, according to local media reports on June 18.

Huaguoyuan community has a total construction area of more than 23.3 million square meters, dense high-rise buildings, a peak population of nearly one million and more than 27,000 shops and registered business units, making smooth community governance a vital issue.

At the start of June, the new governance platform began trial operations in the first phase of Huaguoyuan community.

According to local media reports, at present, 40 elevators in five buildings in phase 1 have been installed with online monitoring equipment.

Officials said that with the help of these devices, staff members of the intelligent platform can check real-time data on the operating status of elevators and how many people they are carrying, to head off potential problems caused by equipment malfunctions, among other functions.

At present, 23 restaurants in the community have installed smoke monitoring equipment to monitor emissions in real time. If smoke concentrations exceed the standard, the platform will automatically sound an alarm.

Staff members will then immediately get a call to remind them to turn on the smoke purifier and fans.

According to district officials, the platform can support online video viewing of restaurants, to view the preparations and food processing of kitchens and standardize the operations behavior of staff.

Moving forwards, the platform will identify and analyze the video feeds, analyze whether the operators wear masks and hats and other details to ensure food safety.

Officials said the construction of the platform is a continuous and lasting process, with the help of big data, the internet of things, cloud computing and other advanced scientific and technological means.

It will monitor various management situations in the community and realize all-round intelligent management from the government of property, merchants and residents.

In future, mobile phone apps, a WeChat official account and other services will be launched to facilitate supervision by local authorities and provide more convenience for all aspects of residents' lives.
