Since last year, Nanming district in Guiyang -- capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province -- has staged nine special job fairs in its counterpart-assistance areas to lift more people out of poverty, according to local officials.
They said it has also organized 23 work skill programs, providing 1,279 people with training, according to local media reports on June 12.
With the help of Nanming district, more than 39,000 jobs have been introduced to poverty-stricken areas, helping over 370 residents from these areas to get jobs in the district.
District officials said that since last year, the district has given full play to the resource advantages of the central urban area, in accordance with the provincial and city-level deployments on poverty alleviation.
It has made employment recommendations and staged job fairs, vocational skills training and other activities in its counterpart-assistance areas, so as to help the local poor laborers secure employment and increase their incomes, so as to help the battle to overcome poverty.
Since the start of the year, in response to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, the district has organized and launched online job fairs. It has set up recruitment boards for these areas to provide employment information for the poverty-stricken labor force.
Job seekers in the poor areas can learn about job opportunities with the companies through the live streaming recruitment fairs. They can participate in online video interviews and find appropriate jobs.
Officials said that with the alleviation of the epidemic, in the near future Nanming district will organize resident businesses to go out to counterpart-assistance areas for on-site recruitment.
At the same time -- according to the training needs of these areas in planting, breeding and other fields of endeavor -- the district plans to select the best training institutions to launch training sessions for residents.
