Nanming district's building economy promotions center in Guiyang -- capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – on April 9 signed a three-year agreement with the Chengdu Association of Building Economy Promotion, or CABEP, in a bid to help boost its local economy, according to local officials.
The term building economy refers to the new idea that buildings and the economy in the future integrate in an unprecedented way. Buildings will be no longer limited to units in the property market, but instead be important economic drivers. Analysts say that, moreover, the impetus for the development of the building economy has shifted from being market-oriented to technology-driven.
Officials said the agreement aims to further boost exchanges between Guizhou and Chengdu -- capital city of Southwest China's Sichuan province -- and improve the district's level of building economy services and management.
CABEP has 268 member units and more than 650 commercial and commercial building projects in Central and Western China. It says it is the first building economy industry organization in China and the largest commercial building organization in Central and Western China.
In accordance with the agreement signed by both parties, CABEP will provide building economic consulting services for Nanming district.
This will include consultations on standardized construction, building economy talent training and building database construction – and CABEP will also cooperate in investment promotions and building economy publicity.
In recent years, Nanming district has made great efforts to build a modern industrial system and services economy highland with regional characteristics, supported by the building economy and centered on characteristic buildings and enterprises headquarters.
According to local officials, Nanming district will in addition give further full play to its own location and resource advantages, with the help of the advantages of CABEP and Chengdu enterprises in their respective fields.
It will strengthen exchanges and cooperation between the two sides, promote the commercialization of achievements and jointly promote economic and social development.
Analysts say that as an emerging economy form that fosters real estate properties for commercial use in cities' business areas, the building economy can be regarded as a service sector because through developing good-quality high buildings, it can attract companies to settle in and operate, generating taxes for cities in the future.
Officials said there are 94 buildings in use in Nanming district, including 53 office buildings, 15 apartments and 18 commercial and residential buildings, with a total construction area of 4.47 million square meters and a total office area of 3.34 million sq m.
They said that in addition there are 19 buildings under construction, including 10 office buildings and nine apartments, with a total construction area of 2.05 million sq m and a total office area of about 490,300 sq m.
