Nanming district's GDP in 2019 ranks top in Guiyang city

In 2019, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Nanming district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, hit 82.06 billion yuan ($11.71 billion), ranking it first in terms of scale in Guiyang city.

Officials from the district's bureau of statistics told local media on March 17 that the GDP increased by 9.1 percent year-on-year, ranking its growth rate third in the city and 1.7 percentage points higher than that of Guiyang's.

The district's GDP accounted for 20.3 percent of the city's GDP and was 0.3 percentage points higher than the previous year.

From the perspective of industrial structure, the  value of production and service of the primary industry in Nanming district in 2019 was 111 million yuan, an increase of 2 percent over the previous year; that from the secondary industry was 26.79 billion yuan, an increase of 13.7 percent over the previous year; and the value of production services from the tertiary industry was 55.16 billion yuan, an increase of 6.8 percent over the previous year.

In general, the industrial structure of Nanming District has been gradually optimized and upgraded, and major industries have developed well, officials said.

In 2019, the district's agricultural production was generally stable. The value of production from agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery in the district was 115 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 2 percent.

The industrial economy advanced steadily. The value of production by manufacturers above designated size in Nanming -- those with annual sales of 20 million yuan or more -- increased by 11.4 percent year-on-year, ranking it second in the city.

The growth rate increased by 0.7 percentage points from the first half of 2019, and the ranking increased by 1 position in the city.

Urban construction in Nanming district accelerated in 2019 and fixed asset investment increased by 7.3 percent year-on-year, which is 5.8 percentage points higher than that of Guiyang city -- of which infrastructure investment accounted for 26.9 percent.

In 2019, total retail sales of social consumer goods in Nanming hit 39.90 billion yuan, ranking it first in the city. The total value of its imports and exports reached $900.8 million, ranking second in the city.

Among the three major industries, the role of the services industry in driving the economy is prominent, officials said.

From January to November 2019, the operating income of its service industries above a designated size reached 24.69 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 11.4 percent.

 In 2019, the region's total tourism revenue was 76.37 billion yuan, an increase of 23.5 percent year-on-year; the total number of tourists totaled 26.74 million, an increase of 18.4 percent.

 In addition, in 2019 emerging industries in Nanming had a good momentum of development.

The value of production and serivces by high-tech manufacturers enterprises above a designated size in the district was 1.54 billion yuan, accounting for 9.5 percent of the total industrial output value of the district.

The value of production of strategic emerging enterprises reached 1.81 billion yuan, accounting for 11.2 percent of the total industrial output value of industrial enterprises above a designated size in Nanming.

From January to November 2019, the operating income of enterprises above a designated size in the internet and related services, software and information technology service industries reached 1.61 billion yuan.

That was an increase of 30.5 percent year-on-year -- and the growth rate was faster than the growth rate of operating incomes of all enterprises above the designated size of the services industry, by 19.1 percentage points.

In 2019, 49,514 new jobs were created in urban and rural areas of the district, ranking it first in the city.

The per capita disposable income of urban residents in Nanming reached 38,921 yuan, an increase of 8.9 percent year-on-year.
