Nanming district in Guiyang, capital of southwestern Guizhou province, has carried out closed management of all residential areas within the district since Feb 2, aiming for prevention and control of the novel coronavirus there, according to local officials.
Local authorities said that in principle, only homeowners are allowed in and out of each community -- and outsiders are not allowed to enter without permission.
The neighborhood committees in each community are requiring all residents not to visit relatives or friends, not to go to group activities, not to participate in group activities and not to go to densely populated places, so as to minimize contact with others.
Officials said the staff of the neighborhood committees have made full use of various methods to publicize the prevention and control of the epidemic to the residents -- and effectively improve their awareness of the need to respond to the epidemic.
