Over 2,200 sanitation workers from Nanming district in Guiyang -- capital of southwestern Guizhou province -- stayed at their posts to lend a hand to tackle the coronavirus and help prevent the spread of the epidemic, according to local media reports on Feb 1.
To reduce the possibility of epidemic transmission, in recent days over 2,200 sanitation workers -- wearing masks and equipped with disinfectants and other professional equipment -- have been active in the district. Officials said they had ensured routine cleaning, refuse removals and collections and the opening and cleaning of public toilets took place as usual.
They also have worked tirelessly to boost efforts to clean and disinfect 28 waste transfer stations, 130 public toilets and other sanitation facilities.
At the same time, local sanitation companies have also installed 200 wasted masks collection dustbins and turned two waste transfer stations into waste mask collection points -- to dispose of the hazardous medical refuse in a clean and efficient way.
