Nanming university for aged wins national recognition

The University for the Aged in Nanming district in Guiyang -- capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province -- won the title of "National Excellent Adult Education Institution," according to local officials.

They said it has become the only one in the city to win this award to date.

Officials said in recent years, the university has adhered to innovative development, actively created a great environment for teaching and cultural development with the distinctive characteristics of the times -- and explored a standardized way of running schools.

Now it has become one of the provincial standardized model schools.

The size of the school has been expanded year by year and it currently has 40 classes of elderly students.
