The first-ever craftsmen's competition successfully concluded on Aug 30 in Nanming district in Guiyang city, the capital of southwestern Guizhou province, according to local media reports.
The organizers said the purpose of the competition was to build a platform for training and selecting skilled talent, promote the progress and development of the technology industry in Nanming district, as well as promote employment through skills development.
The competition set up three crafts competition groups: electricians, welders and hand embroidery workers.
Organizers said hundreds of people participated in the competition.
After passing a theoretical examination, 38 hand embroidery workers, 11 electricians and 11 welders entered the final round of the competition to participate in the operation skills competition.
First, second and third prizes and honorable mentions were set up for each group, worth a total of 88,000 yuan ($12,523.13).
In addition, some of the winners will also represent Nanming district in the fourth craftsman's competition of Guiyang in September.
