Zeng Jinze, acting mayor of Zhanjiang, led a team to Xuwen county and Leizhou in the city on Sept 16 to inspect their project construction.

In Xiayang village of Xuwen, Zeng assessed on site the village's sewage treatment, cleaning, as well as planning and construction, affirming the improvements in the village's living environment.

The efforts to improve the living environment in Xuwen should learn from other places' good experiences and adhere to regular assessments to ensure that people feel happier in their lives, said Zeng.

Zeng also asked for details on the Dashuiqiao Reservoir in Xuwen, expressing that water conservancy construction is vital to the development of Zhanjiang and that great importance should be attached to it.

Xuwen Port is expected to open for operation before Oct 1. Zeng visited the port's waiting hall and the boarding bridge, as well as learned in detail about the ferry routes across the Qiongzhou Strait, Xuwen's transportation plans to get connected with the Hainan Free Trade Port, Xuwen Lingang Industrial Park, and the key projects under construction in Xuwen.

Zeng also recognized the operation of the Datang Thermal Power Plant in Leizhou, which had an accumulated electricity production of 4.63 billion kilowatt-hours from January to August, generating 90.25 million yuan ($13.35 million) in profit. It is estimated that the power plant can produce 6.8 billion kWh of electricity this year, with an output value of 2.4 billion yuan.
